Couples counseling occurs in a confidential and collaborative manner where the counselor works with the clients to help them alleviate symptoms that brought them to counseling while reaching mutual goals for future success. The counselor IS NOT there to take sides, keeps score, or point out who is wrong/right. Couples counseling can be highly effective in improving communication and resolving conflict.

Much like individual and couples counseling, family counseling also occurs in a confidential and collaborative manner. Family counseling IS NOT a place to point fingers, place blame or avoid constructive conflict. Family counseling aims to improve relationships and conflict within the family system rather than solely on an individual. One person can do the work needed to begin again however, they are part of a bigger familial system and that system is forced to react to each other's changes (whether those changes are positive or negative).
